As per GWPCA National running rules, there

National Championship. The Championship stakes are open to
any German Wirehaired Pointer who has placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd,
or 4th in the AKC Gun Dog or All Age Stake. |
General
Information
|
Pyramid State Park is
a wonderful place to run bird dogs! The fields are managed
with field trials in mind and they consist of large open
fields ringed with hedgerows, cut milo fields, and some open
wooded lots. The courses flow wonderfully one into the next;
giving the gallery plenty of opportunity to watch the dogs.
The parking area is
graveled with plenty of grassy area to stake out both dogs
and horses and there is a modern bathroom on the grounds. We
will have large tent set up for meals and evening
gatherings.
The field trial is
located at the Denmark Unit of Pyramid State Park.
Directional signs will be posted.
There is no running water but a hydrant is available at the
park office 5 miles east. Unless you have a generator, there
is no electricity. The state will have a water trough for
the horses on site that they will fill daily for the field
trial. |
Making plans to
Attend the National Field Events?
|
If you are trying to figure a time schedule
for any of the field events keep this in mind. The Derby
will begin on Tuesday morning with all other stakes to
follow. We take most of the day to run our Derby and begin
Amateur Championship on Wednesday morning. We we finish the
Amateur Championship will depend on the number of entries,
but if things follow as in the past, this stake will finish
on Thursday.
The Puppy Classic and the Field Futurity
will follow the Amateur Championship. The National
Championship then follows the completion of these two
stakes.
Until the
entries close, it is impossible to determine an exact time
or date you will run in your stake. |
Horses
Only horses rented before the National will
be brought to the field events. You must contact the horse
wrangler beforehand if you want to rent a horse.
Horses will be for rent by the day or half day, but you
absolutely, positively must contact Liz and let her know
your needs.
All horses (by the day or half day) must be paid for
before you ride.

Gateway GSP Club (3 Day
Field Trial)
|
Click Here for Gateway GSP Premium
The
Gateway GSP club will be holding a 3 day trial on the same
grounds we will be running the National. This is a good
opportunity to get your dogs (and you) on the grounds before
our events begin.
Stakes Running Order
Open All Age starts things off Friday morning (October
23rd), followed by
Open Limited Gun Dog, followed by
Amateur Gun Dog (or maybe Amateur Limited GD), followed by
Open Gun Dog, followed by
Amateur Limited Gun Dog (or maybe Amateur Gun Dog)
Depending on entries, if there is a large entry, Open Derby
followed by Open Puppy will run on a second course Saturday
following THE START OF which ever Amateur will run first. If
there is a small entry, then all stakes may be run on one
course with Derby & Puppy running most likely after the
first Amateur stake.
Lori Rezzardi is the trial secretary, you can send your
entries directly to her.
Lori's email address is
Lrezzardi@aol.com
her mailing address is
7905 Green Rd., Iuka, IL 62849
618-822-6447
While we hope that all our GWP folks support the entry at
the Gateway trial, please keep in mind we also need all of
you at the Annual meeting and auction on Saturday night, and
are looking for your support for the All Star Invitational
and your presence at the Awards Banquet on Sunday night.
